Make A Difference Day — Adoption of the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter Playhouse

The Brookings club celebrated “Make a Difference Day” by adopting the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter’s (BDAS) playhouse. The playhouse was in need of a new coat of paint, flooring and general sprucing up to make it more inviting for the families that utilize the abuse shelter. Altrusa and BDAS staff decided to spruce up the playhouse with primary colors and a circus-train theme inspired by the popular children’s book “The Little Engine that Could”. This was a fun project that continued to evolve with new flooring, curtains and furniture. Altrusa and BDAS extend a special thank you to Sherwin Williams for the paint and Barrett’s for the flooring. The donations certainly provided Altrusa with the means to “Make a Difference”. The Brookings Altrusa club will continue to provide books for the playhouse.
